New Families Mentor Program

New this year, the PTA would like to help new families learn the ropes and integrate into our school community through our New Families Mentor Program. This is designed for families who are in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year at DKFI following lottery admission or transfer. These families are paired with a "veteran" family who has been at DKFI for at least 4 years. The veteran family is available to answer questions, explain aspects of school culture, share French immersion experiences, etc. We try to pair families based on geographic location within the county.

La Boutique des Euros (Euro Store)

The Euro Store is a volunteer-based, PTA-sponsored boutique inside the school. Parent volunteers staff the Euro store on Friday mornings and the PTA purchases the items that stock the Euro store. At DKFI, elementary school students earn “euros” from staff and teachers as a positive work and behavior incentive. Students then can spend their euros in the PTA-run Euro Store to buy themselves prizes. This program serves nearly 500 elementary children.

Box Tops Collection Contests

DKFI participates in the Box Tops for Education program. Two to three times per year, the PTA conducts a box tops collection drive. The PTA the awards class prizes to the classes that collect the most box tops. The Box Tops for Education program raises hundreds of dollars for our school.
