Grandparents & Special Friends are invited to join students at school for a special day. This is a great opportunity to for Grandparents to see our school and what their grandchildren do each day. Students can invite a special friend; an elder who plays a special role in their lives. Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP. Please fill out the form below.
What is the purpose of Grandparents and Special Friends Day? DKFI is hosting our first Grandparent & Special Friend’s Day to foster community relations and boost family involvement in our school. It's a day to recognize the importance of community and building relationships across generations. DKFI is striving to create a community that understands its history while building our future.
What if a student does not have a grandparent that can attend? Students can invite another beloved elder or family friend to visit. NO PARENTS, THOUGH. This event is specifically for Grandparents and Friends.
Can grandparents who aren't local can still participate? Yes! Grandparents from out of state can send a message and photo (4x6 or smaller) that will be printed out and given to their grandchildren for a small fee. Do I need to RSVP? YES! Please RSVP by filling out our online form. Share any special skills, or subjects that you can speak about with students. If you speak French, please let us know.
What time does the event begin? The event begins at 9:15. Please do not come before that time, as the buses are entering the area in front of the school. The event ends after lunch.
Where can we park? Parking is available in the school parking lot near the entrance to the school. Additional parking is available in the rear of the school, directly off of Route 193 (Greenbelt Rd). Do not park in the business area across the street from the school.
Can my child leave with their grandparent or special guest? No, students will still have classes for the rest of the day.
Grandparents and Friends are welcome to come back for Family Bingo Night at 6:45 pm!
