PTA Committees
Volunteers of all kinds are needed at DKFI. We need people who can organize events, people who can write letters, people who are in sales and marketing, people who are crafty, people with technology skills, and people who can help out at school. Follow the steps below to join a PTA committee today.

- Register to join the PTA, and fill out the volunteer survey.
- Complete the PGCPS volunteer requirements.
- Review the committees below, and reach out to the proper contact person to join.
Communications Committee
Duties: Responsible for updating the PTA website and social media. Works with the PTA President to communicate PTA related information. Ensures news and announcements are distributed from the PTA committee chairs to class parents. Works with the PTA Treasurer and select committees to set up PayPal links and event pages on the website.

Ambassadors assist incoming families to acclimate to DKFI. Class Committees are the most direct link between parents and DKFI teachers. Each year, three parent representatives are selected from each class for all grades. They facilitate communication among parents and the teacher, encourage involvement in school life, and help build community.

Elections Committee
Duties: Responsible for presenting qualified nominees to hold PTA officer positions in a fair election process. Rules for nominations can be found in the PTA by-laws. This committee will be selected in December or January.
Enrichment Committee
Duties: Identifies opportunities to increase the number of enrichment programs for students (i.e., external speakers/activities at assemblies, student clubs, etc.). Will additionally source activities affiliated with embassies, institutions of higher learning, and cultural centers. Any ideas requiring parent input and participation will be coordinated through the PTA.

Duties: Coordinates various events and programs throughout the year. Committee members may choose an event to lead with help from other members. Plans a weeklong series of pop-up events during the spring to thank the DKFI staff. Check the Calendar for a list of upcoming events and opportunities to volunteer!
Fundraising Committee
Duties: Responsible for developing strategy for obtaining corporate sponsors, raising funds, and identifying/writing grants. A subcommittee will help plan the annual book fair.
Legislative Committee
Duties: Works with the PTA and school leadership in presenting ideas, information, and needs to the Prince George's County Board of Education. Attends school board and county council meetings and advocates on issues impacting DKFI.
